This architectural sculpture from Russian artist Nikolay Polissky combines two forsaken elements—an abandoned warehouse and a mass of wood cut-offs from previous projects—into one striking piece. Ron Arad has a history of bending steel to fit his needs – in 1986 he did it for a chair and now he’s gone even further and bent sheets of steel into such a tizzy they now forms two functional bike tires. The bike was designed specifically for W Hotels and was just revealed at an event in London. For two weeks guests at the W Hotel in London could take the flowery prototype for a spin. More than just exquisite geometric patterning, the pot actually unfolds and grows as the plant it holds blooms and its roots extend. The origami-like nature of the piece sets it apart beautifully. Thus, one can forego repotting and allow the planter and plant to thrive together as the plant itself pushes the container outward as it expands.
